A good start to the race, but just an ok result by the end. It was a short race, closer to 8km than 10km. We did 4 laps of the lower roller ski loop. I was running 4th and within striking distance at the half way mark, but I couldn't quite sustain the pace. I skied on my new NIS2 skis and they seemed to be going well. The strong headwinds made it tough, especially going into the finish, when it felt like I was barely moving.

Getting ready for first timetrial of the year
First "race" will be individual start 10k skate on a 2.5 km loop at the Nordic Centre. It should be fun, entries from FNSC, BSR, CNSC, NST and RMR!

Lake Louise Loppet 2005
I had a great start to this race and had a decent gap after doing the loop on the lake. Up the first uphill I was slipping a lot on the ice. On the next big downhill I fell on a icy corner. I believe this is when I broke a ski, although I didn't realize it at the time. At the bottom of the big downhill I fell again when my grip wax grabbed on the power snow. My skis were really slow on the Telemark loop and I had to ski out of the track the whole way. The Fairview loop was not much better since my skis were slow in the fresh tracks but not enough grip. In the old track I had absolutely no grip. I ended up 2nd overall, but still managed to win the 20-29 category.
